With the number of educated yet unemployed young men and women increasing day by day, need-based and job-oriented professional education has become the need of the hour. In this digital age, computer science and IT-related professionals dominate the job market. Recognizing this growing demand, educational planners and managers—both in the Government and the Universities—have introduced a wide array of professional courses, thereby creating valuable career opportunities for the youth of our country.

The University of Burdwan has also responded to this societal need by offering several professional programs such as BCA (Hons.), BBA (Hons.), BBA in Tourism & Management (Hons.), B.Sc. in Biotechnology, B.Sc. in Biochemistry, B.Sc. in Microbiology, MCA, MBA, and MBA in Tourism & Management, among others.

When we examine the situation locally, it becomes evident that a significant number of students from our state migrate to southern states each year to pursue higher studies in these professional fields—often at exorbitant costs. In the developing district of Bankura, opportunities for such technical education remain limited.

In alignment with The University of Burdwan’s initiative to grant affiliation to professional courses, a group of professionally qualified, energetic, and experienced individuals came together in 2001 to establish ICIS College. The aim was to address the educational challenges faced by local students and to provide affordable access to IT and management education.

Our vision is to create a unique, dynamic learning environment that caters to the individual, societal, and industrial needs of the country in the new millennium. Our mission is to prepare a band of youth equipped with up-to-date knowledge and technical skills to take on any challenge—be it national or global.

ICIS College, Bankura is the first IT and Management-based degree college in the district and is now affiliated with Bankura University. At present, the college offers full-time, four-year BCA (Hons.) with AI/ML, Data Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering and BBA (Hons.) degree programs.
